Friends of Music present Springfest on Sunday, May
20
(May 11, 2012) The Voorheesville Friends of Music announce the return of
Springfest, an outdoor music festival to be held at Clayton A. Bouton
High School from 2 to 5 p.m. on Sunday, May 20.
Several local bands featuring current Voorheesville students, faculty
and alumni will provide live entertainment at Springfest. The bands will
share an outdoor stage near the football field with the scenic
Helderberg Mountains as a backdrop and music production sponsored by
Live Sound Inc. The afternoon will be capped off with a performance by a
well-known local musician and fan favorite, singer/songwriter/band
director Mr. Brian Kaplan.
The original Springfest, which took place in May 2010, was conceived of
and organized by Therese Miranda, past president of the Voorheesville
Friends of Music. Therese envisioned a venue where local bands could
showcase their talents for the enjoyment of the community. An outpouring
of donations from the community in memory of Therese and the generous
support of so many others whose lives were touched by her, will fund
this event and enable the Friends of Music to offer free admission.
Be sure to mark Springfest on your calendar. Onsite concessions will be
available; no outside food or beverages are permitted. We encourage
everyone to come out and support our talented young musicians!
