Students participate in Volunteer Days
Students in grades 9 and 10 participated in Volunteer Days March 22 and
27, where whole grade levels worked with agencies and organizations
throughout the Capital District.
“With these two days complete we have achieved our goal of having every
student in the high school engage in a service-related activity in the
2011-2012 school year,” said Voorheesville High School Principal Imran
Abbasi. During the school year, students lent a hand to the New Salem
Volunteer Department, Atria Senior Services, Ronald McDonald House,
Thatcher Park, New Visions, Parsons Family and Child Center, the
Regional Food Bank and Voorheesville’s athletic department and
elementary school.
“We are grateful and proud of the faculty and students who have made
this initiative a success and helped our school donate almost 2,000
hours of community service for those worthwhile organizations in our
area,” Abbasi said.
