Two Voorheesville teams headed to March 31 Odyssey of the Mind state tournament
The middle school team won first place for Problem 5 Odyssey Angels Division II. The team is coached by Michelle Lisboa and the student members are Joelle Lisboa, Abby Parker, Isabel Jobin-Davis, Emma Hampston, Rachel Crawford, and Tori Szesnat.
The elementary team of Gabrielle Dowd, Jordan Bein, Rori Champion,
Krista Rivers, Maeve Owens, Leon Fitzgerald and Maddie Pelletier won
first place for Problem 4 You Make the Call Division I. The team is
coached by Tricia Putman.
"I couldn't be prouder of this team," said Putman. "We didn't even form
our team until January, so these kids really had their work cut out for
them; three of them haven't been involved with Odyssey before! They had
so much fun the day of the tournament, and that energy really showed
when it was their turn to perform."
The program would not be possible at VCSD without the support of the PTA
and the school district, and the incredible dedication and talent of
each team’s coaches. Congratulations to all of this year’s participants
for a job well done! About Odyssey of the Mind
Odyssey of the Mind is an international educational program that
provides creative problem-solving opportunities for students from
kindergarten through high school. Kids work in teams to apply their
creativity to solve problems that range from building mechanical devices
to presenting their own interpretation of literary classics.
