The School Health Program provides services and health education—with emphasis on prevention—to our children, staff and community. Good health contributes to learning ability; therefore, we are mainly concerned with helping children attain the best possible physical and mental condition.

Our programs include state-mandated yearly vision, hearing, and scoliosis exams. In addition, all new students, kindergartners, and those participating in interscholastic sports must have physical exams. The school physician will give these exams unless a report from an outside physician is received by the Health Office. Parents are responsible for medical care of a problem reported by the school physician and should return all resulting forms as soon as they have been completed by their physician.

Communicable health problems (such as head lice, pinworms, scabies, "pink eye," and strep infections) along with any immunizations, tests, injuries, or unusual illnesses must be reported to the Health Office, enabling us to better protect your child's health and the health of other students.

Medications must be brought to the Health Office and dispensed there, enabling us to better protect your child's health. All medication must be properly labeled and accompanied by a signed note. Injuries and infections that occur at home must be treated at home or by a physician.
