Studio in Art is a full year course and is the prerequisite for all art electives: Sculpture, Drawing and Painting, Portfolio Preparation, Graphic Design and Printmaking.

Students will be presented with a broad range of studio projects based on the following:

                      Design Problems (elements of art and principles of design)

                      Drawing (still life, portrait, figure, linear perspective)

                      Painting (tempera, watercolor, acrylic)

                      Three-Dimensional projects (plaster relief carving, clay pottery, clay figure)

Students will complete sketchbook and written assignments and participate in discussion and informal critiques. Students will participate in a five-day clay workshop with sculptor Michael Wells. Textbook: ART TALK
