Teacher: Ms. Marie Triller ext. 350

Drawing & Painting 1 is a half-year course that is offered in the Fall and the Spring. The prerequisite for this course is Studio in Art.

Drawing & Painting 1 is designed to build on the skills acquired in Studio in Art as well as prepare students for other art electives such as Portfolio Preparation. Students will learn to render the figure in pastel and create a large charcoal self- portrait. Students will develop painting techniques in various painting mediums such as acrylic, watercolor and tempera. Students will also learn to stretch and prepare their own canvases. Drawing & Painting 1 culminates with a gallery/museum trip to New York City in the Fall.

Drawing and Painting 2 is not offered this year.

Drawing & Painting 2 is a half-year course that is offered in the Spring. This course is a continuation of Drawing and Painting 1 where students can further hone their drawing and painting skills.

Students will study contemporary artists and techniques as well as develop their own artistic voice and personal style. Students will create large paintings, learn mixed-media techniques and produce a series of abstract expressionist paintings.
