Science 6, Earth Science, taught by Mr. John Curran
Units typically include: Climatic
Change, Environmental Science, Geology, Solar System, and Weather. There
is also a solid review of the Scientific Method, Lab Safety and
Measurement. Through this, students are introduced to a wide range of
natural phenomena. Students will increase their understanding of the
scientific method in a cooperative learning environment designed to
integrate other disciplines whenever possible. Labs and projects are
included in the course work.
Objectives or goals:
Students are introduced to a wide range of natural
phenomena through inquiry-based learning. Emphasis is on
scientific skills, including observing, estimating and measuring,
interpreting and analyzing data, and hypothesizing.
Resources (textbooks)
Students will use a variety of text material in and
out of the classroom. In addition, teacher-made materials will be
provided throughout the year.

Exams:
Exams are announced at least two days in advance.
These will cover class discussions, materials reviewed, and laboratory
activities.
