Math 8 students will cover the following topics,
and apply the topics to problem solving:

Consumer Topics -Rational and Irrational Numbers

Course 1 students will cover the following
topics in preparation for the new state standards:

Logic -Signed Numbers

Operations with Algebraic Expressions

First Degree Equations and Inequalities

Probability -Linear Equations
-
Algebraic Fractions -Radicals

Quadratic Equations
Grading:
HOMEWORK: Awarded 0 to 3 points
3 = Handed in on time and complete
2 = Handed in no more than one day late, or handed
in on time, but incomplete
1 = One day late and incomplete
0 = Not handed in.
QUIZZES AND TESTS: Approximately 75% of a
student’s grade is based on quiz and test results. Quizzes will be given
about once a week and a test will be given at the end of a unit.
All students will be preparing for the eighth grade
state exam given in March, as well as building skills that will serve
them in their high school math courses.
