SKILLS-BASED PROJECTS- The bulk of the
learning process in Health will be hands-on projects designed to help
students develop each of the life-skills listed above. The projects
allow for practice of these essential skills as well as assessment of
information learned. Projects are worth 100 points and a scoring rubric
will be supplied to students.
TESTS/QUIZZES - Tests and quizzes will be
used as check points for projects or closing of a unit. Point value of
these will vary.
OUT OF CLASS ASSIGNMENTS - Assignments to be
completed on “student” time will vary, and may require communication
with outside resources i.e. phone calls, working with a partner,
surveying a parent/family member.
IN CLASS ASSIGNMENTS - Students will be given
class time to complete many assignments . These include research,
partner/group work, problem-solving initiatives. They are expected to
use this time and stay on task.
CLASS PARTICIPATION - Class participation is
important as we do many assessment and skills practice initiatives
during the class period. Class participation includes: 1. Being prepared
for class 2. Being present and on time 3. Following the Health Rules
Contract.
FINAL GRADE - will be determined by dividing
the total number of points earned by the total number of points
possible. A number grade will be assigned to this number based on the
