Health 6, taught by Mrs. Vorse
In 6th grade students meet every other day for one
semester. The curriculum follows a research-based program for developing
adolescents, focusing on issues of self-management, hygiene,
self-esteem, bullying, growth and development, dealing with changes,
decision making and risky behaviors. HIV and AIDS mandated programs are
also incorporated. Through worksheets and projects, students will be
given time to practice and reflect on a variety of life-skills
associated with the items listed above. They will be required to
maintain a folder for assignments and papers, and will receive a letter
grade based upon class participation, homework, projects and cooperation
with in-class activities. Since we meet every other day, this grade will
not be on the report card until the 2nd quarter they are in class.
This year, sixth graders will be meeting for health every other day for
one semester. Progress reports will be sent home with the first
quarter grade cards since they will not get a grade for the class
until the second quarter.
