Art 8, taught by Ms. Kristen Wells
This course is designed to provide an
intensive study of sculpture, 2D media and art criticism skills.
Students will continue to build their observational skills by studying
linear perspective, which will take place on location around the campus.
The goal of 8th grade art is to help each student mature in their art
knowledge and their skills as a decision maker, and to nurture that
growth in preparation for their Studio Art experience once they reach
high school. The course meets every other day for 20 weeks.
Expectations
a. Each student is expected to be in class on time,
and prepared DAILY!
b. Each student is expected to respect fellow students, their ideas and
their artwork.
c. Each student is expected to treat their art room and their materials
with this same respect.
d. All sketchbook homework assignments are expected to be handed in ON
TIME and completed with care.
Requirements
The student has the responsibility for the following
in order to achieve a satisfactory grade:
a. Class attendance, effort, preparedness and participation in
critiques.
b. Class projects
c. Sketchbook assignments
d. Learning vocabulary and skills necessary for the successful
completion of quizzes and the final exam.
***As the final project for this course, students
will present an artwork and provide written information based on the
four principles of art criticism: Description, Analysis, Interpretation
and Judgment.***
