Art 7, taught by Ms. Kristen Wells
This full-year course meeting every other day is
designed to introduce seventh grade students to the basic elements and
principles of art, with a focus on the four disciplines of art: art
production, art history, art criticism, and aesthetics.
Art 7 is designed to provide experiences in a
variety of media, and build upon the student’s knowledge of the creative
art process. Students should begin to form good work habits in the care
and maintenance of supplies. Through various projects, class
discussions, videos and handouts, students will discover a variety of
ways to creatively communicate their ideas and represent themselves.
Projects include an examination into:
the elements and principles of art use of materials such as: graphite,
tempera paint, watercolor, marker, oil pastel,
colored pencil, clay as well as artists and movements including 19th
Century art, 20th Century art, abstract expressionism, American art,
contemporary art, and the differences between realistic, abstract and
non-objective art.
